Sensitivity of Sample for Simulation-Based Reliability Analysis Methods

In structural reliability analysis, simulation methods are widely used. The statistical characteristics of failure probability estimate these have been well investigated. this study, the sensitivities and its with regard to sample, called ‘contribution indexes’, proposed measure contribution sample. indexes in four methods, i.e., Monte Carlo (MCS), importance sampling (IS), line (LS) subset (SS) derived analyzed. sample can provide valuable information understanding deeply, enlighten potential improvement methods. It is found that main differences between investigated lie safety samples, which factors efficiency Moreover, numerical examples used validate findings.
